Aquarius to push for RE in schools

The Religious Education Council for England and Wales has handed an account to Aquarius PR.

The not-for-profit body is a multi-faith forum where national organisations with an interest in supporting and promoting religious education (RE) in schools and colleges can share matters of common concern.

Aquarius is producing a leaflet for the body on RE in schools that the body will use as part of a communications drive to improve understanding of the subject.

The literature will be sent out to journalists, MPs, head teachers and non-RE teachers to brief them on the state of the subject in schools.

Last week a paper from the National Union of Teachers caused a stir when it suggested that religious leaders could be invited into state schools to give pupils instruction, thus reducing the need for faith schools.
