Steve Morris will start at Portland PR at the end of the month, taking the title of partner for client servicing. He will report to MD Tim Allan, who was previously Alastair Campbell's deputy at Number 10.

Morris himself is a former Number 10 staffer, having previously spent five years as head of the Strategic Communications Unit. After leaving Downing Street in 2007, Morris replaced Yasmin Diamond as director of comms at Defra.
