Credit Agricole names new comms chief

PARIS: The largest retail banking group in France has brought in Alexandra Rocca as head of comms as it feels the effects of the credit crunch.

Rocca, 45, is promoted from a similar role at Crédit retail arm LLC. She joined in 2005 from Galeries Lafayette department stores where she was deputy head of group communications.

Prior to that she held roles at department store Printemps and medical gas firm Air Liquide.

Last month Crédit posted a fourth-quarter loss, as it booked large writedowns due to the global credit crunch and said it was not planning any major acquisitions. The bank made a bigger-than-expected net loss of £655m.

Analysts had speculated the firm might be interested in weakened French rival Societe Generale.
