The winners will win £200,000 to develop the idea, as judged by a panel including environmentalist Jonathon Porritt.

Led by interim PR manager Rebecca English, the campaign was launched with a street performance in Norwich on 17 March, and is being supported with a community carbon calculator allowing residents to work out and track changes to their carbon footprint.

Media relations will include case studies of green community groups and a research piece into different types of green heroes.

The campaign is backed by Anglian Water, Defra, E.ON and Suffolk County Council.
