Public Sector: Midlands boost to mental health

Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Trust has appointed a Healthcare Commission PRO to fill its newly created director of comms and marketing post.

Rachael Vowles is currently central region PR manager at the Healthcare Commission. She starts the new role on 17 May.

Vowles said: 'A big part of my role will be explaining what foundation status means, and encouraging people to become members. The other big issue is around mental health, and developing anti-stigma campaigns.'

Vowles will report to chief executive Sue Turner. Before the Healthcare Commission, she worked as head of comms and parliamentary business at the East Midlands Strategic Health Authority.
