New MD for Bell Pottinger Health's expansion plans

The Bell Pottinger Group is revamping its healthcare offering after appointing a new MD and stating its intent to buy agencies.

The newly created Bell Pottinger Health brand will incorporate existing healthcare agency De Facto and newly acquired MC Bio-Communications.

MC Bio was headed by Mike Wort and Anna Duffy, who become part of the De Facto team.

De Facto CEO Richard Anderson becomes Bell Pottinger Health chairman with newly hired MD Shipra Singh.

Former Hill & Knowlton joint MD of healthcare Singh left the agency in January (PRWeek, 1 February 2008). She joined H&K in 2001.

Anderson and Singh will report to Bell Pottinger group chairman Kevin Murray.

Murray said the move would 'revolutionise' the agency's PR healthcare output and confirmed it was looking for further acquisitions in an effort to boost its healthcare portfolio. The company wants to expand in the US as well as the UK.

'We do a lot of work in healthcare across the group,' said Anderson. 'It makes sense for us to bring it under a single brand.'
