DIARY: Freud warming to project Cameron?

Is Matthew Freud, of Murdoch marriage, communications empire and interesting family tree fame, turning blue?

Not that Freud has acquired pneumonia. Sources close to the PR doyen say that he is becoming awfully friendly with David Cameron.

During the Blair years, Freud was a well-known Labour supporter, offering the then prime minister advice, and the party in general the weight of his support.

But some moles now say that Freud is now firmly ensconced within Camp Cameron, lunching with the Tory leader and his Notting Hill pals.

Dave was also a guest with Tony Blair at Freud's Christmas bash, says one source.

Given Freud's aforementioned connections with News International, Brown's revamped comms team could have quite a job on its hands.

However, Freud was quick to set Diary straight, saying: 'I'm a New Labourite through and through. The local branch of the party still meets at my office.'
