LETTER: MPs need to be tech-savvy to survive

The Politics, Policy and the Internet report by the Centre for Policy Studies (News, 22 February) made notable recommendations but why should politicians stop at web 2.0?

Technology is evolving at a fast rate and our MPs cannot afford to stand still if they are to combat the disillusionment with politics felt across Britain.

While many politicos struggle to keep up with web 2.0, web 3.0 will enable content to be seamlessly delivered across devices, including direct to the constituents' mobiles.

Few parliamentarians have embraced technology as they should have. MPs need to ensure they use new media to establish a two-way dialogue: constituents should be able to participate as well as observe.

The attitude of our parliamentarians towards technology should not reflect the age of the building in which they gather.
