BMW appoints its first digital boss

Auto giant BMW UK has appointed its first digital PR manager following a six-month search (PRWeek, 7 September 2007).

Media relations manager Duncan Forrester has been chosen to fill what BMW describes as the first role of its kind in the UK car industry. Forrester will start at the end of March, and will be responsible for online comms for the BMW and Mini brands.

He will report to BMW UK corporate comms manager Mark Harrison, who carried out audience research before deciding to appoint an online PR specialist.

'Conversations with website editors and bloggers confirmed that there is an ever-growing demand for online material,' he said.
