COI to improve regional reach

Regional agencies look set to scoop more government work following changes at the Central Office of Information (COI).

The government office is also looking to appoint a new head of in-house PR and three client directors, based in London.

'We want to use a mixture of our own resources and an agency's resources,' said COI head of news and PR Neil Martinson.

'We are looking at more flexible ways of working, and are also considering a more regional list of agencies as a way of improving our reach.'

The news comes as part of the COI's ongoing strategy to integrate PR with the Government News Network, News Distribution Service and the Media Monitoring Unit, which was announced at the end of last year.
