Howard Miller had spent 12 years at the LSE before leaving, briefly, for a director of legal and compliance role at financial services firm Credit Suisse. He rejoined the LSE and was appointed to the head of public affairs role in the past month.

LSE press officer Fiona Hurst said Miller had ‘a wealth of exchange experience' and ‘a good understanding of the business and its complex issues', having worked in a variety of roles at the LSE over the years. He has worked on regulation and regulatory policy, corporate strategy, the

Regulatory News Service (the LSE's communications channel) and ‘the successful Nasdaq and Macquarie defence teams', added Hurst. Both Nasdaq and Macquarie recently made bids for the LSE.

While his expertise is in policy, Miller oversees a team with strong political experience. These include public affairs manager Mark Parsons, formerly of William Hague's office.

Wheeldon joined BSkyB last year (PRWeek, 5 October 2007 ), replacing Martin Le Jeune, who left in January 2007 to set up the Open Road consultancy with a trio of other senior lobbyists (PRWeek, 11 January 2007 ).
