DIARY: Nokia puts green calling on hold

One company currently on the agency hunt is Nokia. Back in deepest darkest last month, PRWeek reported that the mobile phone behemoth was looking for a global co-ordination agency to globally co-ordinate things (PRWeek, 26 January).

The story read that seven agencies were up for the acc-ount, although moles now say the figure is up to a whopping eight - meaning eight agencies will, separately, decamp to Helsinki to pitch for business probably headed out of London. And God bless their carbon footprints on the way. Sources say the cost per agency in man hours and expenses will be around £30,000, even if it loses.

This from Nokia's website: 'It is our intention as a business to achieve sustainable growth within an ecologica-lly aware context. We take pride in promoting conservationism and a greener lifestyle by way of our Nokia trademark. We trust that our actions translate that to our customers as well.' Hmmm...
