US clinical shop merges with Ketchum health

Ketchum's healthcare division will place a greater emphasis on clinical trial recruitment services after merging with US-based healthcare comms agency MMG.

The merger sees the Omnicom-owned agencies combine their expertise while retaining their respective brand identities.

Clinical trial recruitment specialist MMG's US operation has more than 30 employees, mainly based in Washington. The smaller London-based operation currently has one full-time employee, but three others are set to join over the coming months. They will report to Ketchum London CEO David Gallagher.

MMG was founded in 1987 as a healthcare comms company and joined Omnicom in 2000. It specialises in helping pharmaceutical, biotech and government clients reach and influence patients to participate in clinical trials.

Its expertise will complement Ketchum's healthcare division, which provides comms services throughout a product's lifecycle. The move also looks set to strengthen MMG's global service offerings.
