LETTERS: Councils should come clean on cuts

While I have enormous respect for the challenges local government PROs face, I find the approach taken by LG Comms baffling (News, 8 February).

Local authorities are failing to provide services to people who desperately need social care on a daily basis, albeit through a lack of government funding.

It leaves carers at breaking point, and vulnerable and severely disabled people with high-level care needs isolated without support. And each day a new cut in service is leaked out by a local paper.

If councils have an image problem, it is because of the failure to adequately communicate the causes of the crisis in social care.
