Public Sector: Freshwater helps Kent allot funds

West Kent Primary Care Trust has appointed an agency to help with a project aimed at giving local people more say in how health funding is dished out.

Freshwater UK's specialist healthcare division is to encourage the public to become members of the trust's new 'health network'.

Freshwater account director Louisa Stanton said: 'It is about targeting young people and young parents, people who do not traditionally engage with the NHS - getting people involved who aren't the usual suspects.'

The project will give young people the opportunity to take part in surveys, join meetings, attend training sessions and take advisory roles on commissioning boards.

West Kent PCT director of civic engagement Julia Ross said: 'Our annual budget is £3-4bn, and we feel passionately that every single person that lives and works in West Kent should have a say in how we spend it.'
