Booth starts the new role this week, less than a year after taking up the role of head of corporate affairs at Lewis. Before that, he spent just six months at London lobbying shop Precise Public Affairs.
Prior to joining Precise, Booth spent seven years at Lewis, including a stint as head of PR.
Booth, a former journalist, also stood unsuccessfully for the Conservatives in the last general election.
Booth joins the ACCA as director of public affairs and media relations. The association claims to be the largest and fastest-growing professional global accountancy body with 115,000 members.
Booth replaces Andrew Silverman, who has taken a senior role at the City PR agency Gavin Anderson.
