Sutton Council refreshes comms team

The London Borough of Sutton has taken on the former comms chief at the National Consumer Council as its top communicator.

Gill Bull takes the role of executive head of policy and comms, the second highest job in the council. The post also includes policy, partnerships, economic regeneration and renewal. It was previously covered on an interim basis.

'There is a lot of synergy between the comms role and policy. Both are about supporting the organisation and managing its reputation,' she says.

Bull joins from York-based urban renewal adviser Shared Intelligence, where she was a principal consultant.

She has also held senior management positions at the Greater London Authority and the Charity Commission, as well as heading comms and public affairs at the National Consumer Council.

Meanwhile, Sutton has hired Westminster City Council's PR team on a six-month contract to provide comms services, focusing on developing integrated campaigns on issues including recycling.
