Gyro secures £50m for acquisitions

Integrated comms agency Gyro International is planning to buy up a number of PR agencies after securing £50m to fund an acquisitions programme.

Gyro aims to follow its buyout of healthcare PR shop HSD earlier this year with further acquisitions in the PR sector (PRWeek , 11 January).

Gyro CEO and founder Gary Brine said: ‘PR is being brought in last to the marketing mix or as a standalone service, which is wrong. It's an extremely important discipline that I want to make part of the Gyro offering.'

The agency secured the new investment from an undisclosed US private equity firm. Brine confirmed he was already in talks with undisclosed agencies, but would not reveal how much of the funding would be spent on PR or which sectors he was looking at.

Gyro was formed in 1991 and its client list includes Sony, American Express and Virgin Atlantic.
It has offices across the globe in London, Amsterdam, San Francisco, Madrid and Paris.
