Godfrey will leave ITV in March, after three years, but will continue to advise the broadcaster as a retained consultant.

He is a former special adviser to ex-health secretary Patricia Hewitt.
‘I have had a great time working at ITV with a brilliant team, but the time is right for me to take on a new challenge,' said Godfrey.

The news comes two months after Camelot's Mark Gallagher was named as ITV group director of corporate affairs.
