Directgov hires Defra e-comms man

Directgov, the government web portal, is appointing a new director of comms from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra).

David Dilley will take charge of an eight-strong team on 4 February . He will be responsible for all communications with other government departments to enable web convergence, plus public-facing e-campaigns.

Dilley will report to Directgov CEO Jayne Nickalls. He joined the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food – now Defra - in 1995, and is currently head of e-comms at the government body. In the role he has has worked on high profile issues such as BSE.
