Redbridge finds head of comms

The London Borough of Redbridge has appointed a new head of communications from the body charged with improving local government.

Eddie Gibb joins the London council after 18 months at the Improvement and Development Agency, an offshoot of the Local Government Association. He was also head of external relations at think-tank Demos.

Gibb will have control over marketing, branding, campaigns around services, internal comms and stakeholder relations. He will also oversee Redbridge's web 2.0 channel, 'Redbridge i'.

In explaining his move directly to a local authority, Gibb said: 'It's a pretty exciting time for local government. All the political parties are talking about localism.'
