DIARY: Let's Meet at... The Zetter

For Mediterranean food with an urban twist, this is the place to head. The boutique hotel in Clerkenwell sprung up nearly four years ago and has since become one of the best known 'secrets' in EC1.

The Zetter is a fusion of ideas between restaurateurs Michael Benyan and Mark Sainsbury.

The restaurant, in a converted warehouse on Clerkenwell Road, wraps around the corner and has striking views overlooking St John's Square. It's sleek but not pretentious, so if you're there for breakfast, lunch or dinner, you'll always feel welcome.

The food is fresh and inviting, with an exciting feel. Lunch and dinner guests are certainly in for a treat.

Health-conscious diners will be spoilt for choice between freshly prepared delicacies such as grilled skate with steamed fennel, aubergine and mushroom panzotti with tomato and oregano, and grilled sea bass fillet with braised squid, artichokes and salmoriglio sauce.

For those planning to put off the January detox, however, the roast leg of lamb or chicken and pancetta cannelloni with walnut paprika and parmesan are equally as inviting.

And for those who don't intend to dine, the long black marble bar that sweeps around the restaurant is equally as impressive.
