Firefly to back Freesat launch

BBC and ITV's soon-to-arrive free satellite platform Freesat has appointed Firefly to oversee PR for its launch.

The joint venture between BBC and ITV will be providing free HD digital TV across the UK from Spring 2008, offering over 200 TV and radio channels.

‘The big thing we'll be dealing with is confusion around HD in the market,' said Firefly associate director Rozz Boy. ‘It's a really big educational campaign, because I don't think the market understands HD at the moment.'

The six-strong Firefly team will be led by Boy, reporting into Freesat managing director Emma Scott and brand marketing and communications director Will Abbott.

Meanwhile, group director Jon Holt is leaving Firefly, where he has been since Spring 2006, to study in Paris.
