Tax alliance wins think-tank award

The Taxpayers’ Alliance has been named most innovative think-tank in the first ever UK awards of this kind.

The Stockholm Network Golden Umbrella Think Tank Awards took place on Wed­nesday with lobbyists and pol­itical editors in att­endance.

The Taxpayers’ Alliance scooped the ‘innovation award’ in the week that it released figures showing the average local authority spends alm­ost £1m on publicity. The think-tank of the year award went to the Institute for Market Economics in Bulgaria.

The awards are being promoted by InHouse PR – the agency hired by Boris Johnson to push the message that he is ‘deadly serious’ about bec­oming London Mayor (PRWeek, 20 July).
