The report, Investing in Life, was commissioned by Oxfam. It said the pharmaceutical industry is undermining its own future as millions of poor people are denied access to medicines.
But the ABPI’s comms machine last week swung into action to defend the industry.
ABPI director general Dr Richard Barker said: ‘Oxfam should stop looking to criticise an industry that has helped alleviate the health problems of the poorest nations on earth and look to work with us on these issues.’
