Margareta Pagano has been appointed business editor of The Independent on Sunday, replacing Andrew Murray-Watson, who is leaving journalism. She starts in January.

Isabel Choat has been promoted to travel editor at The Guardian’s travel supplement. She replaces Andy Pietrasik, who has become day travel editor of GuardianUnlimited. Gemma Bowes, a former researcher at The Observer, is now deputy travel editor.

Alice Fordham has moved from The Times’ books supplement to assist on the comment section. She will write leaders, opinion pieces and blog contributions.

Daily Mirror gossip columnist Eva Simpson will join thelondonpaper as assistant editor. Bridget Harrison, deputy editor at thelondonpaper, is going on maternity leave. Associate editor Lisa O’Carroll will cover her position until the new year.  

The Evening Standard has hired Rosamund Urwin as a graduate trainee reporter on the business team.

Now magazine has hired Corrine Barraclough as associate editor. She was acting deputy at News of the World’s Sunday magazine.

Dennis Publishing has redesigned its men’s magazine Bizarre and promoted managing editor David McComb to editor.

Bella magazine’s deputy celebrity editor Sanjeeta Bains is leaving to join IPC’s Woman magazine as celebrity editor.

Diane Kenwood is the new editor of IPC’s Woman’s Weekly. She moves from Redwood Publishing, where she was editor of titles including Your M&S. Acting editor Geoffrey Palmer has reverted to deputy editor.

Medical trade title GM Journal has hired Lynne Kincaid as editor, replacing Deborah Valentine. Dawn Powell, previously assistant to the editors, is now deputy editor on GM Journal and GM2.

Future has appointed Matt Skinner as editor of cycling trade title What Mountain Bike, after 18 months as reviews editor of sister title Mountain Bike UK. Rosee Woodland has been named deputy editor and Ian Collins as technical editor of Mountain Bike UK.

The Norwich Evening News has hired James Foster, former deputy editor of the Cambridge Evening News, as editor. Emma Harrowing is now Women’s editor.

CMP’s Travel Trade Gazette has launched ttgluxury, a quarterly glossy for premium travel professionals. April Hutchinson is editor.

Inside Housing has hired Crispin Dowler as senior reporter. He joins from the weekly Crawley Observer.

Katherine Rake will stand in while Internet Retailing editor Emma Herrod is on maternity leave. Marcus Austin is web editor.


BBC Radio 5 Live controller Bob Shennan has moved to Channel 4 Radio as director of radio.


Business site Breakingviews has hired Jeffrey Goldfarb as correspondent for the investment banking industry. He was senior M&A reporter at Reuters.

Rebecca Atkinson is news editor at Associate editor Clare Bettelley has replaced her at Mortgage Strategy magazine.
