The campaign aims to increase awareness of the businesslink.gov.uk website, which provides guidance on employing people.
The appointment follows a competitive pitch, managed by the Central Office of Information (COI), against three other agencies.
A spokesperson for BERR said: ‘We have identified that better understanding of employment law could save businesses millions of pounds.’
The campaign will launch nationwide in January 2008, when Russell Grossman takes up his role as director of comms at BERR.
Grossman will lead an 80-strong comms team.
