Daily Mirror political editor Oonagh Blackman is to step down after 11 years at the paper. Deputy political editor Bob Roberts will replace her.

Ellie White has been appointed health writer at The Sun, covering for Andrea Hammett who is on maternity leave. White was a freelancer on The Sun’s website.

Freesheet London Lite has hired Paul Connolly as its arts editor. He moves from the same role at fellow Associated Newspapers title Metro.

Peter Taylor has joined The Business as a reporter. Taylor was previously a reporter at the Herald Sun in Australia. He replaces Catherine Boyle, who is heading for the Sunday Express.
The Scotsman has appointed Colin Donald as its business editor. Donald joins the Scottish daily from Business AM, where he was Tokyo correspondent.

Nicole Jackson, commissioning editor at the Daily Mail’s Weekend magazine, has moved to the commissioning desk at The Guardian’s G2 supplement.

Celebrity magazine Hello! has promoted deputy editor Kay Goddard to the role of editor, replacing Ronnie Whelan.

Tony McAuley has been named managing editor of energy at the Economist Intelligence Unit, a division of the Economist Group. McAuley was deputy editor of the Economist Group’s CFO Magazine Europe.

Archant Life has hired Lorraine Crighton-Smith as the new editor of its glossy London lifestyle title SW. She was previously assistant editor of Location Location Location magazine.

financial news editor Tony Major has been promoted to the new role of visual director. Assistant news editor Tony Tassell will replace him. Michael Steen is now Netherlands correspondent for the FT. He was previously a Kazakhstan-based reporter for Reuters. Steen replaces Ian Bickerton, who left to join Dutch PR outfit Huijskens & Istha.

Broadcast has named Katherine Rushton as its new chief reporter. She joins the magazine from literary trade title Bookseller, where she was a senior reporter.

Jean Jollands is the new features editor at Emap’s Mother & Baby. She replaces Wendy Golledge who moved to Top Sante in the same role.

IPC has promoted Sarah Warwick to executive editor of its Ideal Home magazine. Warwick has been deputy editor and chief sub-editor at the interiors title.

Open Goal, a new free football monthly, is to be handed out at every Premier League football stadium from January. Richard Stonehouse will be editor.


Guto Harri is now political correspondent at the BBC’s Six O’Clock News. Harri was previously chief political correspondent for BBC News 24.

BBC London and BBC Breakfast presenter Matt Barbet has left the corporation for Five News, where he will be a general news correspondent as well as contributing to weekend news broadcasts.


News Digital Media’s head of mobile Rick Gleave has moved to Trinity Mirror as group head of interactive.
