She joins from Cross Border, publisher of IR Magazine, where she was – until last month – comms director.
SIFMA is the trade group representing securities firms, banks and asset management companies across the globe. It was formed one year ago after the merger of The Bond Market Association and the Securities Industry Association.
It is still building its comms structure but is frequently in the news. Last month it featured in front of a senate committee on banking, housing and urban affairs. It recently amended its ‘money market trading practice guidelines’.
Christina Martin, senior managing director and global head of strategic communications at SIFMA, said: ‘Claire completes our global communications team that spans Europe, the US and Asia and will support SIFMA and its local affiliates – the European Securitisation Forum, the European High Yield Association, and the European Primary Dealers Association.’
Hunte becomes the body’s first strategic communications director. She said: ‘SIFMA has a measurable impact on the global capital markets. Its expertise and knowledge is invaluable.’
The organisation says its mission is to ‘champion policies and practices that benefit investors and issuers and expand global capital markets’.
