Email reveals more than it should..

The body representing (most of) the UK's lobbying agencies was this week keen to trumpet a new collaboration with the CIPR and PRCA. But in their haste to put the big announcement in context, those nice people at the APPC accidentally sent us the transcript of a lengthy email discussion about how they should draft the press release and who they should send it to.

Our man was one of five lucky hacks to get the inside track and it would be rude not to share - although to save their blushes we shall let those involved remain nameless (just buy us a drink some time, chaps).

Scrolling down to the bottom, the discussion starts on a humble note. One well-known trade body figure tells colleagues: 'Have had a quick go at this - but have to admit that it is not one of my best and don't think it sounds as exciting as it is.'

Further down, one senior lobbyist passes over responsibility for final sign-off, adding with cheerful scepticism: 'I'll look forward to coming back to a wall of unalloyed positive coverage!'
