Granted, it doesn't even pretend to offer the sort of eating, drinking and socialising opportunities that I have enjoyed recently at venues such as the Hospital, Home House and Harry's Bar.
It is, however, perfect for what I personally need from a club, which is a meeting place where my guests can feel well looked after.
For many years I was a member of a rather stuffy club nearby for exactly these reasons and I took great pleasure in cancelling my membership when the CIPR moved to St James's. That feeling is reinforced each time I visit by the friendly welcome I receive and I feel proud that our industry body has such a club house.
