Wake up call on partnerships

The Audit Commission’s senior comms account manager Mike Browne warned conference delegates that changes to the way in which councils are assessed should not be ignored by PROs.

The comprehensive performance assessment is being replaced by the Comprehensive Area Assessment (CAA) in 2009, which will cover how local authorities and departments work together and form partnerships.

Browne, also vice chair of the CIPR’s Local Government Group, said that PROs should start making connections with other local strategic partnership member bodies now, to set up protocols for joint projects.
