The ‘heart and ride’ campaign, launched on 27 September, follows the £2.8m purchase of a new fleet of 21 greener Stagecoach buses that meet the latest European emission standards.
Cambridgeshire and Stagecoach have teamed up with Boots to offer free health checks – including blood pressure tests, BMI calculations and lung tests – on board one of the new buses.
The campaign is the latest in a range of initiatives devised by Cambridgeshire’s comms team to make the buses more appealing to the local community.
Last year, Cambridgeshire raised £44,000 for Cancer Research UK after painting a bus bright pink to promote the campaign. There has also been a ‘park and read’ scheme, where books were made available on buses.
Helen Green, park and ride marketing manager, said: ‘All of these campaigns are aimed at providing a community feel to the park and ride buses.’
