Mick Fisher quit Royal Mail at the end of last year after seven years as its head of government relations.
He started at the LDA this week as head of public affairs and reports to director of communications and marketing Lorraine Joseph.
Fisher’s post is newly created, following a recent internal restructure.
Almost a year since he announced his departure, Royal Mail has yet to replace Fisher.
