Edelman spends big in China

Edelman has strengthened its foothold in the booming Asian market with the acquisition of Chinese marcoms consultancy Pegasus Communications.

The privately owned agency network has spent an estimated £5m on the Chinese group, which has offices in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzen.

The acquisition means China is now Edelman’s third largest operation. It follows in the footsteps of City agency FD, which recently expanded its Asia practice with the acquisition of the 25-strong outfit Occasions.

Ogilvy and Hill & Knowlton are also gaining ground in China. Ogilvy is advising the Chinese Food and Drug Administration while H&K is working with Beijing’s Olympic organising committees.

Separately... Chime has acquired corporate responsibility consultancy The Corporate Citizenship Company.
