It is also interesting to note the public sector's ad spend of £120m is monitored and vetted by the Advisory Committee on Advertising - an independent, expert body reporting to the Cabinet Office - to ensure best value for taxpayers. No such 'oversight' body exists for the very much larger PR spend, and my suggestions to the Cabinet Office that such a body should be established have met with no response. Perhaps this should be reviewed?
