Phil Sheldon joins Red Door as director of international healthcare, and will be responsible for international accounts.
Sheldon replaces Annabel Fiddian-Green at Red Door, who resigned after just six months. Red Door MD Catherine Warne has been acting in the role since she left and will help out on certain accounts on a day-to-day basis.
Sheldon will be in charge of four international practitioners. He has a non-competition agreement with Resolute but he said: ‘I’ve been approaching a couple of employees at companies I know are interested in international businesses.’
Sheldon sees Europe as the main growth area for international healthcare. He said: ‘The US is the lead market but Germany is rapidly growing, as are France, Italy and Spain.’ He added that Asia and Japan provide other opportunities. Sheldon joined Resolute in April 2005, taking over as MD in November that year. Previously he worked with a variety of agencies in his native America.
Before Resolute he was MD of Lippe Taylor, and prior to that was general manager at Hill & Knowlton and head of healthcare at Porter Novelli.
Resolute joint CEO Paul Blackburn said that there are no plans to replace Sheldon and insisted the move was amicable.
