NEC UK considers itself ‘one of the technology industry’s best-kept secrets’, according to general manager of marketing Derek Owen.
‘NEC needs to exert a more forceful external presence and to be more directly influencing key UK decision-makers,’ added Owen.
NEC’s global business is divided into the three principal segments: IT solutions, network solutions and electronic devices.
Hotwire has been briefed to position NEC UK as a brand leader known for its overall strength rather than just for individual products. The agency will also be conducting a thought-leadership campaign, to position NEC UK at the forefront of the IT industry.
Hotwire’s account team, led by head of its electronics and enterprise practice Scott McLean, will work to capitalise on NEC UK outreach projects.
NEC is the technology partner for the O2 arena, and will be working on the upcoming digital switch over.
The FTSE-listed company is also heavily involved in sports sponsorship. NEC UK is the sponsor of the Harlequins rugby team, the Faldo Series of golf tournaments and the Wheelchair Tennis Tour.
