Former General Motors director of global communications technology Michael Wiley will join in September as head of digital strategy.
His arrival at Edelman Interactive Solutions (EIS) coincides with the sudden departure of four staffers from Edelman’s tech practice.
Edelman UK currently pulls in £0.5m from digital revenue – a small proportion of its £18.3m revenue in 2006. CEO Robert Phillips said: ‘I believe that digital can and should comprise £3m of our UK business within two years. Michael’s appointment is an important step towards a more powerful presence.’
Phillips added that Edelman UK’s digital offering had been underperforming in the UK, when compared with its US counterparts. He also said the agency would be hiring a head of digital production and content.
Wiley has a history of working in the digital arena, having been at General Motors and New York-based Technology Solutions PR before joining Edelman’s American me2revolution outfit last August.
Wiley partially replaces Interactive Solutions director Jacqui White, who is currently working out her notice. She leaves at the end of October without a job to go to.
Production manager Mats Lofgren, senior account manager Neil Major and account manager Jeanette Fikke are also leaving EIS.
