The tech agency, which is headed by MD David Hargreaves, has also boosted its green credentials by hiring an environmental consultant to advise clients on sustainability.

AspenTech develops software for companies including Shell, BP and Chevron. Its software, ratified by climate change quango the Carbon Trust, allows companies to control production in manufacturing plants and to manage energy usage.

Meanwhile, Bite has hired environmental scientist Dr George Basile to advise AspenTech and its other clean tech clients – including SunPower, AMD and Applied Materials – on how to position themselves as environmentally and socially responsible.

Biophysicist Basile has conducted research at US universities Stanford and Berkeley and has advised corporate clients including McDonald’s and Nike on green issues.

Basile will also speak on Bite’s behalf at this September’s GreenCorp event, alongside sustainability gurus Lord Adair Turner and Dr Steve Howard, CEO of Climate Group.
