Research has found two- thirds of freelancers believe in-house comms bosses are now more prepared than ever to accept the use of freelancers on their PR accounts.
The research, carried out last month by recruitment outfit JFL Search & Selection, also found that ‘freedom (50 per cent) and ‘being your own boss’ (21 per cent) are the biggest draws.
Worryingly for comms bosses struggling to retain staff, nearly half the PROs questioned cited the lack of a work-life balance offered by permanent roles as a major reason for going freelance.
‘Over the past two years, the number of freelancers has rocketed,’ said JFL director Edwina Rankin.
‘There are so many opportunities to freelance now.’
