Can you tell us how the website came about?
IPC Media publishes four dedicated magazines for the shooting and country sports community: Shooting Times, Sporting Gun, Shooting Gazette and The Field. The management decided that, with a growing number of internet users among this audience, it would be important to be able to offer an opportunity for them to access the brands online. Shooting UK is the means of accessing all the brands’ site information through one, comprehensive and dynamic portal for the community.
What sort of readership will you be targeting?
Our target audience is anyone who shoots live quarry or clay targets in the UK, whether it be for land management, vermin control, pleasure, food or sport.
What are the main components of the site?
Shooting UK is a portal site through which users can access the wealth of content that we publish online or in print. It also has its own unique content, which is updated daily by the brand titles’ journalists and myself. Key content areas include latest news stories affecting the shooting community, expert advice and instruction on shooting, a market place to buy, sell and swap equipment, and a focus on gundog training and competition results.
