The campaign – which will be handled by public sector powerhouse Geronimo Communications – aims to raise understanding of how digital skills can save families time, hassle and money. It will target parents directly, as well as through their children and other intermediaries.

Get Online Day will take place across England on Friday, 12 October, as part of the Campaign for Learning’s Family Learning Week, coordinated by government body Ufi.

UK Online Centres – run by Ufi – constitutes a network of places that offer free internet access, either in libraries or community and shopping centres.

Geronimo picked up the brief following a competitive pitch handled by the Central Office of Information. The agency was originally retained by UK Online Centres to promote an awards scheme to celebrate success in learning (PRWeek, 28 September 2006).
