Nayyar won't quit bid for Tory seat

Lobbyist Simon Nayyar has vowed to continue with his quest to win a Conservative seat in the next general election after he missed out on becoming the party's candidate for the newly created seat of Sunderland Central this week.

Nayyar, recently installed MD of fledgling agency Citigate Dewe Rogerson Public Policy, said: ‘There’s a fresh tranche of seats available in August and I shall be looking at them closely.’

In the Sunderland contest, Nayyar lost out to Lee Martin, leader of the local council’s Conservative group.

It has also emerged that, some weeks earlier, Nayyar made an unsuccessful bid to be the Tory candidate for Nottingham South.
