Letter - Congestion debate will affect us all

The Manchester city region is in the midst of a highly charged debate over proposals to bid for a combined transport improvement programme and congestion charge.

On behalf of the Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive, Spinoza Kennedy Vesey PR is handling the media relations for this emotive and challenging issues management project.

Your story headlined 'Spinoza Rejects Newspaper Attack on Campaign' (13 July) gave the impression that we were responsible for a leaflet criticised by the local media. This was not the case.

Another agency, Creative Concern, has since issued the following statement:

'Creative Concern, not SKV PR, designed and produced the leaflets. The choice of photography was ours, in conjunction with our clients.'

Our findings from this episode are that any attempt to separate the modern driver from acute car addiction will result in unpleasant withdrawal symptoms played out in the media. This may become a familiar scenario as more cities find themselves grappling with the congestion issue.

Andrew Spinoza, MD, Spinoza Kennedy Vesey PR.
