2 MINUTES WITH: Gareth Ogden, editor, Custom PC

Dennis Publishing has launched a website version of its technology magazine, Custom PC.

How did the website come about?
It was natural to extend the brand online to reach the wider PC enthusiast community. Brand publishing is the key principle behind the launch; the same team works on print and web, which allows us to capitalise on the strengths of the different formats.

What readership are you targeting?
Our audience is PC enthusiasts and gamers: people who build and buy PCs because they want them and not because they need them, and who spend a large chunk of their disposable income on PC hardware.

What makes Custom PC different from other computing sites?

While we provide unique news content, the site has been designed with community features at its heart. We’ve made blogging a priority and every reader can have their own. Readers can also comment on every article and add user reviews, making the site a hub for discussion of the latest developments.

What stories are you looking for?
We’re interested in the latest developments in computer technology and component hardware (motherboards, graphics cards and so on), and we also cover PC gaming.

How and when should PR people contact you?
Telephone or email is fine, and the sooner the better. Stories that will interest us will often be quite different to those that are of interest to more traditional IT publications, so it is certainly worth looking at the site to get a feel for what we’re about before you call.
