The agency has poached Connect Public Affairs lobbyist Theo Blackwell and Conservative aide Bill Morgan. Blackwell started at AS Biss this week, after less than a year at Connect Public Affairs, which he joined as a senior consultant (PRWeek, 15 September 2006).
At Connect he had responsibility for the agency’s flagship Unison account and reported to agency MD Gill Morris.
Previously, Blackwell was a research fellow at the Social Market Foundation think-tank. He is also a former Labour deputy leader of Camden council.
Morgan, who joins next week, served for two years as special adviser to shadow health secretary Andrew Lansley. Morgan is currently responsible for drawing up a wide range of Conservative health policies and helping the shadow health secretary to prepare for Prime Minister’s Questions.
In his new role, Morgan will help build up AS Biss’s health practice. The practice is headed by Mike Birtwistle and clients include Roche Products, Abbott and the Prostate Cancer Charter for Action.
AS Biss founder Adele Biss has also signalled her determination to keep increasing the size of the agency by taking on three graduate trainees – bringing the total of consultants at the agency to 28.
Key clients include EDF Energy, Crossrail, the Football Association and London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games.
