Novartis boosts comms team

Novartis has hired Emily Goodenough as comms manager for its cardiovas­cular, diabetes and neuroscience products.

Good­enough was formerly senior account manager at Cohn & Wolfe, working for the last five years in its London and New York offices, and jointly managing the policy team.

Goodenough reports to comms director Jason Brow­n­ing and will be the contact for Just PR, which won the business this year (PRWeek, 11 April). Brands include Diovan, Exforge and Rasilez (hypertension), a pre-lic­ence product whose ­generic name is vildigliptin (diabetes) and Exelon (for Alzheimer’s).

Novartis is currently mounting a legal challenge against the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence’s decision to limit the prescribing of Alzheimer’s drugs including Exelon.

Novartis has restructured its comms in the past 18 months and recruitment is continuing. It includes a comms manager for corporate activities.
