APPC outsiders get fair hearing

A member of the Public Administration Committee has pledged that he will give a fair hearing to those lobbyists who refuse to sign up to the Association of Professional Political Consultants' (APPC) code of conduct.

Conservative MP David Burrowes was speaking a week after the committee confirmed it would press ahead with an inquiry into the public affairs industry (PRWeek, 22 June).

He told PRWeek: ‘My gun is not out for lobbyists and I’m always sceptical of over-regulation.’

Burrowes also insisted that the committee had not yet considered which lobbyists it would call in for evidence. ‘There is no predetermined view on that,’ he said.
