O'Keefe to set up own PA outfit

James O'Keefe is in talks with other senior players in the lobbying industry, as he sets about establishing his new PA shop.

O’Keefe, one of the industry’s most influential figures, resigned last week as MD of Good Relations Political (PRWeek, 22 June).

It has now emerged that O’Keefe is not acting alone. PRWeek understands he has lined up at least two big hitters to join his new outfit, which is yet to be named.

O’Keefe, who is expected to sign up his new agency to the Association of Professional Political Consultants (APPC), said he was still finalising his plans.

‘I am ready for a new challenge. I leave with a heavy heart, but am excited about my next step at a time when the political scene is undergoing an interesting change,’ said O’Keefe.

O’Keefe denied that his departure is linked to chairman Lord Bell’s rejection of the APPC code. The Public Administration Committee is about to begin an investigation into the PA industry.
